About Us

We are a small-ish festival based in the village of Wyverstone, mid-Suffolk.The first Festival consisted of one lorry-based stage in the play area, and thirteen different beers in the village hall. The day was a huge success, with around 300 people enjoying the day. We  were able to give £500 to both the East Anglian Air Ambulance and to St Elizabeth's Hospice, and our appetites were whetted - how could we make it better?

Fast forward to 2024, and we now have two stages, seventeen bands, six different food trucks, in excess of thirty three different beers and ciders, and tickets for eight hundred festival-goers. We have managed to pass on £6000 to St Nicholas Hospice, as well as supporting the village hall with donations. All this, while retaining the family-friendly feel of a small village festival, and being voted third and fifth most popular festival in Suffolk!

Come and join us this year and see why people are talking about the Wyverstone festival.

BEER and CIDER 2024

This year we have thirty different beers and ciders from Suffolk and a little bit of Norfolk. These are just a few of the possible breweries we will be featuring this year. Keep logging in to see more as we sign them up!

Humber Doucy.webp

humber doucy

We love a Suffolk pub
We love mud tracked on a carpet, and a photo of Sir Bobby behind the bar. We love the sound of clinking pint glasses, carried six-high by a surly teen, and of locals telling the same lies again and again. Most of all, we love beer. We love session ales that last all day, and pints that pack a Suffolk punch.

Earl Soham Brewery

Earl Soham was set up behind the Victoria pub in Earl Soham in 1984 and continued there until 2001 when the brewery moved 200 metres down the road.

In 2013, with no possibility of expanding the then brewery site, the operation was moved to nearby Debenham, where it shares a site with Cliff Quay Brewery, which is part-owned by Earl Soham

Shortts Farm Brewery

Growing up on a farm working in the Suffolk countryside I always appreciated the importance of quality local produce. With a keen passion for food and drink and a desire to run my own business I often imagined of a life based around this

Cliff Quay Brewery.jpg

Cliff Quay Brewery

First brewed at the start of February 2009 in Ipswich's historic Cliff Quay Brewery where others such as Tolly Cobbold and Cobbold & Co had brewed for over two and a half centuries.

Owned by Earl Soham brewery, but run as a separate brewery by Jeremy Moss, who was formerly head brewer at Wychwood in Oxfordshire. Production ceased at Cliff Quay in 2012 when the loading bay where the brew-kit was located was demolished for redevelopment. Brewing was temporarily contracted-out until the new brewery in Debenham was opened in September 2012.

Sadly, Jeremy died on September 4th 2020. Cliff Quay beers continue to be brewed by John Bjornson

Nethergate Brewery

Since our journey began back in 1986, we’ve always loved what we do. We believe that its our passion, creativity, care and attention that have got us to where we are today; a well-loved and committed Suffolk brewer, distiller and retailer.

We know we're far from perfect but we always try and strive for good.

Cabin Brewery.gif

Cabin Brewery

Cabin Brewery is a small brewery located in the Suffolk village of Bildeston. Chris, the owner and brewer, has been brewing beer since 2013 and founded Cabin Brewery in 2015.

Cabin Brewery quickly became popular and with demand exceeding the output of the plant In 2018. Chris used his engineering background to design and build a larger two-barrel plant with the capacity to brew three times a week. The brewery is housed in a converted ‘cabin’ in Bildeston

Ampersand Brewery

We are a small brewery based in South Norfolk brewing a range of core and seasonal beers that best showcase the ingredients and our skills as a modern progressive brewery

Artefact.jpg

Artefact Brewing

Head brewer, James, has been passionate about brewing beer at home for several years. With support from friends and family, and especially his wife and brewery co-founder, Kat, he started brewing ‘properly’ part-time in May 2020, progressing to full-time in April 2022.

Drinkstone Ales.png

Elmtree Beers

We brew cask and bottle Conditioned beers.

Our beers are available in pubs and good shops throughout Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Cambridgeshire. We are a small microbrewery and do not compromise quality for quantity. Most of our draught, and all of our bottled beers are VEGAN.

Wolf Brewery

Wolf Brewery has been a proud East Anglian producer of the finest beers and ales since 1995. Using local hops and ingredients, we strive to continue to push the boundary with our recipes, creating truly unique beverages for our customers to savour

Drinkstone Ales

We are a small nano-brewery based in the beautiful village of Drinkstone in Mid Suffolk. Our story is born out of a lifelong love of traditional beer styles, coupled with a fascination for the British brewing history. So in Spring of 2021, our nano traditional ales Brewery was established.

Watergull Orchard.webp

NORFOLK RAIDER

Watergull Orchard

We're Paul & Beth Cork, the founders of Norfolk Raider Cider, the only cider brewed in Norwich.

We're very proud of all the flavours of our cider. Each variation carries some family tradition with much thought and care. In our opinion this all comes together to make the best cider around

Watergull Orchards are a family business who concentrate on producing a high quality English apple juice. Our apple juice is made from the finest apples, ALL of which have been grown in Cambridgeshire.

The apple juice is pressed on the farm soon after the apples have been picked. Our process is very simple, we hand select the best quality apples which are then washed and crushed into fine pulp prior to pressing in our 30 tonne press. The apple juice is then bottled and pasteurised awaiting distribution. From apple to juice in under 36 hours!

We produce over 20 varieties of high quality apple juice. Our pure apple juice is both delicious and healthy and contain no added sweeteners, preservatives or colouring's. We are an allergen free site therefore using no yeast in our ciders too.

In more recent years we have begun producing cider of which we have over 10 varieties again produced with the same high quality apples we use to make our juice

Crones.jpg

Crone's

The Crone family has been making artisan cider, apple juice and cider vinegar for over 25 years and throughout this time we have continued to use traditional methods. We have had Soil Association Organic Certification from the outset and endeavour to minimise our carbon footprint at every opportunity.

saxbys-cider-logo.png

Saxby's Cider

Saxby’s ethos is to produce high quality, authentic cider using fruit from English trees embracing both traditional and modern techniques, for a flavour that can be enjoyed by everyone. Cider doesn’t have to be a large production line drink. Neither does it have to be bland or too niche for the masses.

VG_Norfolk_Logo.png

Village Green Cider

Ben and Jack met at The University of East Anglia, both finding they had a passion for cider and began making small batches in their dorm rooms. As a team they developed what was believed to be the perfect formula, tested and voted on by a large group of friends. It was during this testing the name Village Green Cider was formed, but no one remembers by whom!

FAQ's

Why do I have to buy a ticket? I thought it was free

After the huge success of 2022, we have realised we need to keep a check on the numbers attending. By asking you to buy a ticket, we will know how many we have attending. BUT by exchanging your ticket for Wyvern Pounds, and then exchanging your Wyvern Pounds for beer, glasses or at the bar, it will still be free to attend

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, you can, as long as Fido is on a lead and you clear up any mess. Doggy bags will be provided if you have forgotten to bring your own

Is there car parking?

Yes. There will be ample parking in the field opposite the Festival site. Just follow the signs.

My passenger has limited mobility. Can we park nearer?

Yes. The Village Hall car park is reserved for disabled visitors

How do I buy the beer?

When you arrive you will be checked in - please bring your tickets either on paper or on your phone. You will be given a wristband and five Wyvern Pounds. Go to the table near the stage in the Village Hall. You can now exchange three Wyvern Pounds for a glass (essential if you wish to drink our Festival beer. Purchase additional Wyvern Pounds at £1 each, using cash or card. Exchange the Pounds for beer at a rate of two Wyvern Pounds equals one half pint. You can also use Wyvern Pounds directly, at the rate of two Wyvern Pounds for a half a pint of beer. You can also spend your Wyvern Pounds at either of the bars. If you run out of Wyvern Pounds, return to the table near the stage and buy more, at a rate of One Wyvern Pound costs One real pound (£1)

Can I bring my own food and drink?

We'd rather you didn't, as this is a charity event, and every penny we raise goes to St Nicholas Hospice. Please support the bars and the food stalls. However, we appreciate that you may have special dietary needs. In which case, we suggest you check with the food stalls if they can provide for you.

What is there for children?

This year we have the fabulous Born Into Rhythm company, led by Charley-Ann Musselwhite. She will be providing a play area, Taster Sessions in Ribbon Twirling and Circus Skills, Arts and Crafts with "Make and Take", as well as toys and ride-ons to play with. This is all free, but donations to St Nicholas Hospice would be most appreciated.

What about glasses?

You will need to buy a glass in order to partake of our beer and cider. However, at £3 each the glasses are excellent value, and as they are graced with the Festival logo, will make an excellent souvenir of your day in Wyverstone.

Drinks from either of our bars will of course come with a glass as usual!

Photographs

We will have two official photographers  working throughout the day. We all love to remember the highlights of the Festival, so photographs and film footage will be taken at today's event. These images may be stored, shared and used by the Wyverstone Beer and Music Festival for printed publicity, online publicity (including Facebook and Instagram) and occasional display at future Festivals. If you do not wish your picture taken, please say at the time.

TICKETS ON SALE NOW

Last year, we had around 600 people attend the Festival over the day. To keep to the terms of our license, we have to limit the numbers on site at any one time. Therefore, the only way is to have tickets.

BUT we have always said the Festival will be free?

So this is what we are going to do

Tickets are now available online from TicketSource or by clicking on the link below, priced at £5 for adults and children are free

When you arrive at the entrance to the Festival, you will be given a wristband and five Wyvern Pounds, which can be exchanged for beer, glasses or other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at either of the bars.

This will therefore refund your ticket price, making the Festival free!!

For example, with your five Wyvern pounds you could exchange them for one glass (£3) and a half a pint of beer (£2)

The bars, ice-cream, etc will take cash as normal
